Hot hot hot

It is hard to believe that a few days ago I was here…

We arrived back in Australia to temperatures over 37 degrees – and I am talking CELCIOUS people!

This morning I competed in another sprint triathlon. I had always planned to compete the day after getting back from Japan – and hoped that my few runs whilst away would help.

I can’t say that it was my best race, but it also wasn’t the worst – so I am happy with the result.

My photographer (aka Mr BBB) didn’t arrive until I was heading out on the bike leg, so I have no photos of the swim.

and back into transition…

The bike leg was slightly hilly, and I had a horrible cramp in my tummy for most of the ride. I suspect that I am getting used to “Australian food” again. Luckily it was also a short course and it was not long before I was heading out on the run.

The run felt a little better, although the heat was draining! I was relieved when the finish line finally came into sight!

I think this post-race photo pretty much sums up how I was feeling :)

haha you gotta love the ‘candid’ post race photos!

This race really reinforced to me the importance of training. I have been indulging a little too much over the Christmas period, and with a big race coming up on 14 February, I really need to focus!

After the race, we spent the afternoon catching up on housework and trying to stay out of the heat. I also spent a little quality time with this girl…

Mr BBB was feeling under the weather this evening so I decided on a easy dinner of chicken and bbq’d vegies.IMG_2782

I cut up some kipfler potatoes, sweet potatoes, zucchini and corn, and seasoned them with a little olive oil, cayenne and dried oregano.

Then it was simply a matter of bbq-ing the vegetables with a couple of chicken thigh fillets.

Confession – we didn’t even bother plating up individual plates for dinner! We just shared straight off the plate!IMG_2786

Well tomorrow is back to work for me and I must admit that I am not looking forward to sitting in an office all day. At least they have air con….a small consolation I suppose :)

Happy baking :)
