Dawn running

Training: Run 5k / circuit

With yesterday's festivities, and a full calendar with work today, I knew the only opportunity for fitness would be an early morning run.

Rather than 'run the streets' I decided to head to a nearby park where I hoped the scenery would be a little more natural and a lot less urban.

That decision did not disappoint.

I ran a 5km loop through the park, which was simply gorgeous.

It was also nice to leave the bitumen, and hit up some trails.

At the end of the loop I came across an outdoor 'gym' so a short impromptu circuit was in order.

I squeezed in 50 situps, 50 dips and 50 raised pushups before it was time to call it a day and head into the city.

I love exploring new places and find that running is the often the best way to do it. It's always nice to try a new trail too - with the added bonus that it seems to make the running time pass quickly!

How about you? Do you prefer to stick to the same running route or do you like to change it up a bit?

Happy baking :)

  3. I do love running when I am in a new place. I love the idea of using a play ground to get in some sets and early in the morning no kids.

  4. I can't believe you went running this morning. Are you crazy! I know that you didn't drink, but we ate so much. Much more dedicated than me. Nice work and really nice to meet you.

  5. I am usually a girl of routine but I like to mix it up every once in a while to make things interesting and fun : )
Looks like you had a beautiful morning run!

  6. I tend not to change it up, because on the paths around my place I'm likely to sprain an ankle. They seem to be designed for walking, not running. But when I'm on holidays in a new place, I like to make it a habit that I plan a track the night before and see what there is to offer. I've discovered heaven like that. :)

Also, I love your photos! They're gorgeous.

  8. Your run looked awesome! Beautiful scenery!
I tend to keep things the same but that's only out of convenience. Whenever I can I change it up. And I love running in the morning. :)

  9. What a cool running location! I wish I had something like that near my house. The closest thing is the 40 mile loop (Springwater Trail) but it's not exactly safe for a woman running alone. I usually stick to my neighborhood.
