“Trust that you are where you need to be in this moment…”
These words rang so true for me this evening during what was possibly the greatest yoga class I have ever taken.
I don’t know whether it was the instructor, or whether I was in an open mood, but I arrived at the gym feeling “off” but left feeling oh so right.
It wasn’t that anything in particular happened to put me in an ‘off’ mood this morning, but I was feeling emotional and a little too focused on what I don’t have, rather than what I do have.
Knowing that exercise normally brings me back into the ‘light’, I tucked my yoga mat under my arm and headed to the gym.
I arrived early so hit the treadmill for a 5km run, then headed straight to the yoga room for an hour long class.
It was hard, it was hot, and it was humbling. And it was the perfect cure.
I found peace on the yoga mat.
I arrived home happy but famished and set about roasting some veggies.
Broccoli…
Brussel sprouts (oh I am so excited to see these back in the shops!!!!)
And of course, sweet potato…
Served all together with a little slice of veal.
It was then time for some rugby watching, with a little snack platter of course…
Strawberries, sweet potato crisps, brie and crackers.
Go Wallabies!
What about you? How do you cure the blues?
Happy Baking :)

That's my kind of snack plate! A little of each one of my faves! Getting rid of the blues can be so tricky. I usually spend some time with my pup. She always brightens the day!
ReplyDeletebrussel sprouts and yoga would make me happy!!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome you had such a great yoga class!! Yoga always makes me feel better too :)
ReplyDeleteI cure the blues by working out or baking! “Trust that you are where you need to be in this moment…” I love this and I believe it is so true!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome you had such a fabulous yoga class. the last one I went to the instructor practically yelled the entire class. I think it was just how she talked but so not relaxing!

Yoga always brings me right back to where I need to be. Solitude and peace are my main objectives! I joke about how I need to "take" a Yoga class, since I mainly teach or do Yoga solo. I love the energy that flows through a huge class!
ReplyDeleteMe curing the blues = A long run. Running is generally my therapy!
Eeep, I am so obsessed with roasted broccoli (and cauliflower) right now! Particularly as the oven is mighty good at warming up our little unit :) Is there any chance those sweet potato crisps come from the new variety on sale in Woolies' health section? :D They're almost as good as the US' Terra Chips...
ReplyDeleteP.S. I need to find a good yoga class here in Aus... is yours a particular "kind" of yoga?
I cure the blues with a visit to the coffee shop and a good read. And walks!
ReplyDeleteDo you like yoga? I've been meaning to try but I'm really fidgety!
Oh yum! I've not had veal for ages. Now I'll be on a mission. :-)
ReplyDeleteyay! yoga is such a therapy for me. it destresses everything!

Sadly, sugar works for me--but I'm realising now that SO DOES HIIT!! Love it! :) What kind of yoga are you doing? I used to LOVE Ashtanga, and so naturally, I moved somewhere where there's none...
ReplyDeleteI really, really, really need to try yoga. I could definitely use the zen feelings you just described.
ReplyDeleteI think I really need some yoga back in my life - I have been feeling a lot less zen lately and although running and cardio boosts my endorphins, it's not quite the same. Thanks for the inspiration!
ReplyDeleteMmm brussel sprouts ;) I think they are my favorite veggie right now!
ReplyDeleteI like to go for a long walk or call good friends when I feel down.
