Hydration time

Happy Friday!

Training:

This morning I leaped out of bed when the alarm went off at 5am and hit the gym. Today’s session focused on upper body weights and abs – and boy can I feel it now. I also wanted to “turn my legs over” in anticipation of tomorrow’s trail race so I jumped on the treadmill for a 3km run. Only 13km less than I will be doing tomorrow ;) Eeeek.

Dinner

This evening I switched the traditional Friday night glass of wine for several big glasses of water. While I would love to be relaxing with a glass of wine, one thing that I have learnt that pre-race hydration is oh so important, and I don’t want to be “left dry” tomorrow.

So water it is.

Also on the agenda was a healthy yet tasty pre-race dinner. Starting with a bowl of thai pumpkin soup...

Served alongside a chunk of GF bread for that carb hit….

Topped with chilli jam and some cheddar cheese, grilled until bubbly. I actually really liked the sweet + spicy + savoury combination…it seems this chilli jam may become a regular.

All together now…

Well time for some TV then an early night! It seems that in addition to tomorrow’s race, the rest of my weekend is also filling up fast. On the agenda:

  • Trail race
  • Grocery Shopping
  • Preparing pies / salad for dinner / rugby party
  • Photo op at our new “house”
  • Dinner / rugby party
  • Yoga
  • Muffin baking
  • Birthday dinner for my sister in law

As they say, no rest for the wicked ;)

Well, time for another glass of water….

Happy (Friday) Baking :)
