Jubilant July

Thankyou all so much for your lovely comments about yesterday’s trail race. I woke up this morning not only with slightly sore legs, but also the realisation that we are now into the second half of the year. Scary huh!

So, in keeping with tradition, a monthly recap is in order.

Did you miss my previous recaps? Check them out below:

This month was another busy one, although I did have a lot of time at home which was nice. Construction on our new house is also progressing rapidly, with the formwork now in place.

My prediction is that we will be in by the end of October - fingers crossed. I must say that I am particularly missing all my cookbooks, baking gadgets and serving dishes - which are currently hidden in one of the many boxes in the garage. I suspect it might feel like Christmas morning when I finally get to unpack them!

Despite the cold temperatures, there were plenty of things to keep me (and my belly) warm this month!

Starting with a pizza party

And not forgetting a wonderful trail race!

The Mystery Box is also a little lighter after the following ingredients were chosen this month:  beans, asparagus, sesame seeds, artichoke, tomato, saffron, snowpeas, corn and peanuts.

Check out what I cooked with each ingredient by following the links on my Mystery Box page.

I must say that my favourite would have to have been the paella or the satay . I predict that the satay sauce will be making another appearance sometime soon, so stay tuned.

In fitness news, I ran 85 km, biked 68 km and swam 2.1 km during July. I also fit in 8 strength training sessions and 3 yoga classes.  I am still loving the inclusion of strength training in my workout schedule, although I think it is time to step it up a notch.

What about you? Did you have a Jubilant July?

Overall, my July was certainly Jubilant, albeit on the chilly side. But hey - only one more month until winter ends and we say hello to Spring. Here's to an Adventurous August!!

Well time to dash to a yoga class  then head out to dinner to celebrate my sister in law’s birthday. My muscles are BEGGING for a good stretch and I am hoping the yoga class will be the perfect cure. Hope you are having a fantastic Sunday!

Happy Baking :)

  5. Mine has been a bit more jubilant than other months, seeing as I've finally got established somewhat at ANU and am no longer muddling along doing nothing. I think your was more jubilant though.. your house is so exciting! Are you allowed to wonder around the framework? I'd totally want to do that :D

  8. How exciting about the house. Just stay calm through all the stress. We had our house custom built three years ago and it was very stressful. But after it's so enjoyable.

  9. LOVE the recap! Especially since I only recently found your blog.

I would love to build our own house so things can be set up just how we like. That is so awesome you get to do that. I know it must be stressful too though.

And I want that cupcake. Any surprise coming from me? LOL

  10. Hi! :)

It wouldn't let me comment on your "About Me" page, but I just have to say that the photo of you covered in mud is so bad ass. Hehe. Also, I wish I could hear your accent through your posts! I studied abroad in Brisbane (Griffith Uni) and I'm obsessed with all things Aussie :)

  17. Your Mystery Box idea is brilliant! I am going to make one for myself this week. I often find myself falling back on the same recipes & ingredients I'm accustomed to, but no more!!

  18. It looks like July was an awesome month for you :) I love the excitement of building a house and watching it go up. My parents built a new house when I was in high school, and now I can't wait to build my own in a few years :)

  19. I hope you have an awesome August too!
I loved building our own home, but the time table seems elastic to builders who get to go home to their own beds each night not worrying about yours

  20. Sounds like a great July, and I love how those cupcakes look.

My July was wonderful, mostly because I got to go on a camping vacation for a week. I'd been looking forward to a week off for months!
