Thankyou for all your suggestions re getting in a workout when time is against you. It is so true, however, that sometimes you just need to accept that a workout is not going to happen and take a rest day. After all, what is one missed workout in the grand scheme of things?
Today was a long day, but it was a productive day.
I was up at 4.00am, on a flight to Melbourne by 6.00am, and in a meeting by 9.00am. It seems the extra preparation I did yesterday really paid off however, and the meeting went very smoothly.
So smoothly, in fact, that I was finished with work and checked into my hotel by 6.00pm.
And oh my – and what a gorgeous hotel room it is.
Although, I had to laugh though when I opened the door. Why is it always the case that when I am travelling for work, and only really need a bed to sleep in overnight, I get an upgrade and score a huge corner suite?!
With the stress of the last few days behind me, I had only one room in mind…
The hotel gym!
5 kilomters on the treadmill, and 20km on the stationary bike later, I was a sweaty (yet happy) mess and returned to my hotel room hungry and ready for dinner.
While I could have found a grocery store and cooked up a storm in the well equipped kitchen, the temptation of the room service menu was all too much.
Speaking of which…I must go order!

WOW that suite is amazing :)
ReplyDeleteGosh, I wonder if I'll ever get to stay in a hotel that nice?!
ReplyDeleteNiiiiiiiiiiiiice pad for the traveler! Nice gym, too! I'm happy that you figured something out about your rest day, and even happier that you get to keep up your training while traveling! That must be refreshing. :) Be safe, hon!
ReplyDeleteImpressive Gym! I'd definitely take advantage too!
ReplyDeleteThat gym is impressive!! I somehow NEVER get upgraded and always get the hotel with the crappy gym. Just not in the cards for me, I guess......I'll just live through you! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you were well prepared! Glad you were able to get in a workout and room service :)
ReplyDeleteI love staying in (nice) hotels and having a good hotel gym to work out in. I worked a trade show last year where I stayed at the Hilton in Anaheim, CA (Disney Land!) for a week. It was gorgeous and the gym was really nice. It was like a mini vacation even though I worked 12 huor days every day.
ReplyDeleteLucky you to get upgraded! It is funny when you get upgraded when you won't be spending that much time in the suite, but it's always a nice surprise anyways. :)
ReplyDeleteI wanna stay there!
ReplyDeleteI too would love to know why the upgrades happen when you don't really need them. I've been upgraded to a suite twice..and both times I was by myself :-).
ReplyDeleteLibby
Wow - huge suite!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had the gym to yourself, too! Good times :) Glad the business trip turned out well!
Yikes, 4am wakeup time?! I agree though, workouts make everything better :)
ReplyDeletewow that suite looks so impressive you would be tempted to change the meeting venue and meet with everyone there in your pjs over breakfast :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, check out that hotel suite! Good on you for getting to the gym and fitting in a good workout!
ReplyDeleteWhat a huge suite and a corner one too! That's fantastic! :D
ReplyDeleteOoooh, nice room! You could have just run laps around that instead of going to the gym!
ReplyDeletewow, sounds like a busy day but with a comfortable room to come back to!
ReplyDeleteWay to work out the stress! It's amazing how much physical exercise can dwindle away stress. Checking out your Propject Food Blog entry now :)
