Finding comfort in cookies

Thankyou all for your wonderful brownie suggestions! I will be sure to give some of them a try when I make my next batch!

Training: Swim

Today's warm Spring temperatures made for perfect swimming weather, and I headed to the pool after work to swim some laps. I covered 1.5km in around 45 minutes, showered, then headed home. Unfortunately my heart was not really in today's training session, probably due to some sad news I received this afternoon. I was actually pretty tempted to skip my workout all together, but I knew that a session in the pool would be exactly what I needed mentally.

As was a glass of wine.

And a cookie.

Mr BBB's mum had dinner under control this evening, so I decided to do a little comfort baking while we waited. For what better way than to cheer up the soul than with a batch of freshly made cookies. Especially when there is peanut butter and maple syrup involved.

And thus these comfort cookies with maple glaze were born.

Aside from exercise, there is nothing more soothing  for me  than an evening spent in the kitchen.

Stirring, creaming…

And generally making a mess.

Sometimes a gal just needs some good ol’ fashioned sugar…

What about you? What do you cook when you are in need of comfort?

Happy Baking :)

  1. I usually go for a wind down wine....

  2. Oatmeal with peanut butter and chocolate. Or, when it's hot like today, a huge bowl of ice cream sprinkled with ground flax. Those cookies looks amazing-er, though!

  3. I hope everything is okay with you and your family, hon. Prayer for your comfort and well-being, and way to get through training. I know it's tough when you just feel like pulling the covers over your head and dealing with it in a lazy fashion.

I bet those cookies helped, too. :)

  6. I definitely bake for comfort. Something about measuring and mixing sweet carbohydrates into perfect deliciousness is very satisfying.
I love the maple glaze on your cookies! I've never had that addition on a chocolate chip cookie before.

  7. I bake for comfort too! The other day it was banana nut muffins, but usually it's cookies, or cake. I'm not too picky about the item, as long as I have all of the ingredients. I hope things turn around for you.

  9. I know this sounds funny, but I usually make glazed pork spare ribs. They are sweet and a bit greasy, you can eat them with your fingers, and are made to shared with those you love.
    Hope you feel better soon.

  10. I agree with you, cookies are my go-to comfort bake, but baking generally usually does the trick! :P
Hope things are okay, and the delicious-looking cookies worked their magic! :)

  11. mmmm delicious! These look so nice and chucky and soft and gooey! Ideal comfort food ;) I like to make tuna pasta for comfort food - for some reason I tend to avoid sweet in that instance. I hope these cookies worked :)
