Training: Body Pump

For my Aussie friends, did anyone catch the coverage of Busselton Ironman on One HD last night? As you may have guessed from my tweet (?), I was super excited to turn on the TV and find that it was on! For the entire hour, I was glued to the TV. I even got teary (much to Mr BBB's amusement) when one of the girls had to pull out due to bike problems, and again when the 'back of the packers' were crossing the line. The smiles on their faces said it all, and their courage was amazing. God I love triathlon, and the rewards of pride and joy it gives to the people who race them.

But I digress...

This morning's workout, Body Pump,  was one that is now becoming part of my weekly routine. I am thrilled to have weight training back in my life, as it was something I have missed over the last year with half marathon and half ironman training. All I know is that it makes me feel stronger, provides tangible improvements (through increasing weights) and, most importantly, provides one kick butt workout! Are you a fan of Body Pump?

Dinner

While my workout was rather planned and structured, my dinner was not.

I am heading to Melbourne tomorrow to, amongst other things, watch some tennis action at the Australian Open! So tonight it was all about clearing out the fridge.

So what does one do with a fridge full of leftovers?

Make a random ugly plate, that's what!

Leftover EmSPAMadas and spaghetti ‘meat’balls.

Plus a side of roasted  carrots and cauliflower.

Random…yet delicious!

Although I cant help but feel that it needed a little green?

So, as I mentioned,  tomorrow I am heading down to Melbourne for a weekend of tennis watching! To save a little money, I am hoping to take a picnic lunch to share amongst our group.

Do you have any good ideas for what to include in our picnic bag? The weather looks like being quite warm so I don’t want to take anything that will spoil…

Happy Baking :)

  1. As someone who frequently has "snack plates" for dinner, I wholeheartedly support this leftovers dinner of yours :D

  2. Pretty happy Melbourne is turning on the good weather for you. Could you do some kind of wrap? I tell you what you definitely want to take your own food what they've had on offer there in the past has left a lost to be desired.

  3. I love triathlon too, well watching it :) Someday I'll finish my own.

Not so sure what to bring for your picnic lunch, but maybe you could stick an ice pack in there to help keep things fresh!

  4. I love this snack plate - and those carrots look fantastic!
I always take fresh fruits and veggies in a cooler on our picnics. :)

  6. Have fun in Melbourne! I would bring hummus and veggies for dipping, and some sort of cold pasta salad with an oil and vinegar dressing so it doesn't spoil.

  7. I love those kind of dinners, except I usually just stand at the fridge eating from the container.

I usually get some sort of fun dip from Trader Joe's & crackers.

  11. I too get very emotional watching some sports - esp. things like cycling or winter sports - I guess races where it's about more than your own abilities. I'm very excited for the iditarod to start in Feb.
I used to love body pump when I went to the gym. I do miss it at times but am happier being able to do my weights at home first thing in the morning.
Have fun at the open. I've never watched a lot of tennis but I can see it in our future as Christy really loves it.

  12. I just started taking Body Pump and I love it. I hate lifting weights so it's nice to have structure. I would never do any of that stuff on my own!!

For your picnic, pack things like bread, PB, nuts, fruit, granola, and if you can bring an ice pack, obviously that would help for other things. Think traveling on a plane...I pack stuff like PB sandwiches and nuts to snack on. Have fun!!
