Smooth Talkin’ Coffee-nana Smoothie

Training: Run 3km / Body Balance / Run 5km

Since last Saturday, I have been craving an iced coffee. Why? I am not really sure.

All I know is that when Mr BBB and I arrived home after our post-work run, the all too familiar cold-coffee craving returned.

And who was I to say no to such a smooth talkin' craving?

Given dinner was not too far away, I wanted to keep the iced coffee simple yet nutritious. So, there was no ice-cream or cream in this version.

There was, however, a tonne of taste as coffee, frozen banana, vanilla extract and oat milk combined to make a delicious post-run iced coffee.

Or coffee-nana smoothie if you will.

It was cold.

IMG_7071

It was thick and creamy.

IMG_7076

It was caffeinated.

It hit the spot.

And, it was actually quite the perfect post run refreshment!

Smooth Talkin’ Coffee-nana Smoothie (serves 1)

  • 1 tbs freshly ground coffee
  • 1 cup oat milk
  • 1 frozen banana, cut into chunks
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp chia seeds

Combine all ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth.

What about you? What is your favourite smoothie combination?

Happy Baking :)

  2. ooo, that looks great.

I did something similar with hot chocolate powder instead of coffee a little while back, it was lovely!

  3. You're a genius! Banana + coffee sounds like an awesome combination. I will certainly try it after one of my runs this week. My favourite so far will be soy milk + banana + strawberries + cocoa:)

  4. I LOVE putting coffee powder in my smoothies! Much better than yesterday when I put a weird protein powder from the US in and it tasted like vomit.

  5. I love the idea of adding coffee to smoothies, I'm glad to know how simple it can be. I'll try this out when the weather warms up, or for a delicious post-long run drink.

  6. If I drink coffee, I actually prefer iced coffee.

My favorite smoothie has avocado in it, and it actually comes out like mousse, lol.

  8. That looks AWESOME. I've always been scared to use coffee in my smoothies/food - I've seen Caitlin do it a bunch with oats - but this looks and sounds delicious!
