After a very 'down in the dumps' weekend, (for no reason in particular... I just was), I was hoping that a good night sleep and a morning workout would bring my sprits back up.
And you know what?? They worked just perfectly.
I don't see any problem with having a little 'down' time every now and then, as long as those times don't start to outweigh and out number the good times. Although, I am sure Mr BBB would beg to differ given that he was the one that had had to endure my tantrums as I grumbled and stomped my way throughout the house
The weird thing is that on reflection today, there were actually a lot of things that should have made me happy over the weekend. For they certainly made my house happy at least.
For example, our curtains and blinds finally arrived. Taking our living area from exposed…
to finished.
And our library from open….
To private.
Oh and let’s not forget our bedroom. That went from our temporary sheets solution…
To blinds!
We also bought a gorgeous hall table, it was on sale and it arrives next weekend. Not to mention the lovely vases that I picked up on sale for $10.
But apparently even bargains were not enough to lift my mood! Strange huh.
Purchases aside, we also found time to hang some of our photos…
And fingers crossed we finish the rest next weekend!
But, most deliciously, we filled our house with the aroma of a slow cooked pork and lentil stew last night, that yielded enough to feed us for two meals.
So there was no way I could remain grumpy when I arrived home this evening knowing that there was a big comforting meal waiting for me.
Just reheated… and served on polenta.
A (very very) full tummy – but a happy one nonetheless!

What about you? How do you turn 'down' days into 'up' days? For me - there is one sure-fire solution....getting my move on! Be it the gym, yoga or running, a workout never fails to calm the soul.
Happy Baking :)

The curtains look great.,
ReplyDeleteAnd there was the grumps going around this weekend. Too many tears here!
I like to bake when I need some down time. :) Either that or read my Bible.
ReplyDeleteYour blinds look soo good! A library is so nice to have!!
The blinds in the bedroom are gorg!
ReplyDeleteI bake and workout when I'm in a foul mood. I figure one or the other will help lift my mood!
I love the blinds in your bedroom. When I'm down I like to read a book. For some reason it always relaxes me and make me feel better.
ReplyDeletesometimes it helps to know why you are down - what event is stressful or just how tired you are - the blinds must have been good for your mood if only because when you are down you need to crawl into your cave - and leftovers cheer me up too - a cooking free night is healthy sometimes
ReplyDeleteThat's easy. Chocolate, and Gilmore Girls, and chatting with my mum or dad or brother or a friend on the phone :)
ReplyDeleteI think that sometimes some time in the dumps can be good for you. It helps you appreciate the rest. Hope the rest of your week is better!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh - I am in love with all of the windows in your house! The new window treatments look great - and I especially like the blinds you put up in your bedroom - they're ultra cool.
ReplyDeleteI agree - when I'm having a "down" day, getting out and moving helps snap me out of it. Even if it's just taking the dog on an extra walk, the simple act of moving makes me feel better.
Love it, ur digs are beautiful, lovely and light, and how funky are ur curtains, I'm a fan girlfriend. I totally think some down time is healthy, it's just our bodies way of saying, stop, chill out. Good on u for working on through it though. :)
ReplyDeleteThe house looks awesome Lisa! I especially love the blinds. I have to start hanging up some curtains in my house - I feel like it makes a huge difference!
ReplyDeleteLooks beautiful! And wine always makes it all better for me! And maybe a good book.
ReplyDeleteWow! The home looks so different wtih blinds. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you're feeling better...days (weekends) like that are not the best, even if they are part of normal variation. I had my own slump day yesterday so perhaps something was in the global air :p Outdoor exercise works for me most of the time, but not always...coffee is good but I'm not a huge fan of using that crutch!
ReplyDeleteYour blinds look amazing too - I love the bedroom ones in particular.
Oddly enough I felt very down on the weekend too, I think it was alot to do with the rain and having had zero me time for many weeks. But we had a afternoon bbq with some friends on sunday at the park and the fresh air lifted my spirits.
ReplyDeleteI love your blinds, they look perfect for the windows.
I'm sorry you felt down on the weekend but I looked at how much you packed into April and wondered if you needed a breather. I love the house and love those blinds/shutters in your bedroom. Your house is really becoming a home!
ReplyDeleteLove the move it, tone it, drink it!
ReplyDeleteThe house is looking fab!
I was so glad when our blinds and drapes arrived! Ahh the privacy to run around naked should we ever want to!
ReplyDeleteI love all the curtains, especially the bedroom ones. What a difference it makes to the feeling of a room.
ReplyDeleteWow that's the house that I want, It's beautiful, thanks for share, the fresh air lifted my spirits.
