I had actually reached into the Mystery Box yesterday for inspiration,
So I also had a wonderful ingredient on hand to work with.
Marjoram!
Did you know? Marjoram is highly aromatic and closely related to oregano. It is indigenous to the Mediterranean area and was known as a 'symbol of happiness' by the Greeks and Romans.
I read somewhere that marjoram works well with eggs and, seeing as I have almost 12 dozen (* oops I meant to say 2 dozen!) in my fridge at the moment (?!), a marjoram omelette sounded like the perfect bachelorette dinner.
Just whisk...
Chop…
Pour....
Top....
And flip!
And voila.
Paired with a side of green…
And I had dinner in a flash.
I really loved how flavoursome and aromatic the marjoram was, and it really did work wonderfully with the eggs and creamy cheese.
From fridge to plate in under 10 minutes. Gotta be happy about that!

Mmm, what a quick and delicious dinner!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE marjoram .. I only discovered it last year and I have been a bit obsessed with it ;)
I laughed about your priorities haha I would totally do the same!
Agree marjoram is really flavoursome and I love using it for pasta sauces and soups.
ReplyDeleteI never have but I love eggs and eat them at least once (mostly twice) a week. I'll have to try it!
ReplyDeletenot a herb I am familiar with - and omelettes aren't part of my repertoire but when I see an easy dish like this I wish I was - hope you caught up with some good shows
ReplyDeleteWell done you! I've rarely cooked with marjoram, tending to stick with the similar but easier-to-find oregano. You're so awesome with the cooking yourself proper meals when you're on your own!
ReplyDeleteEggs are so simple to cook. I love it. I've never used marjoram before, in fact I don't think I've seen it fresh in the supermarket before.
ReplyDeleteDid you say 12 dozen in your fridge?? What are you going to do with all of them? Can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteWe grew marjoram in our backyard last year and I still have tons dried in my basement. You've reminded me I need to pull some out and use it! :)
ReplyDeleteI love adding fresh herbs to my eggs/omelets. I've never tried Marjoram before - looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLike you, I love to cook! But, sometimes it's so nice to whip something up real quick and just veg on the couch :)
ReplyDeleteYum! That omelette looks so good. I always do quick easy meals when my husband is away too.
ReplyDeleteYou gotta love an omelette and yours is perfect, well almost ;P
ReplyDeleteI've never tried marjoram before! I love how brown you got your omelette! YUUUM!
ReplyDeleteI think marjoram is in herbes de Provence... which I use as a roast rub, mostly. Marjoram and meat go hand-in-hand to me, but I have no earthly clue why!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I didn't get past the 12 dozen eggs. How? Why? What will they get used for?! :)
ReplyDelete@ Organic Warrior and Kari - oops I meant to write TWO dozen - not TWELVE dozen lol.
ReplyDeleteOmelets are a staple in our house! Well, actually, I gave up making them look pretty and now I just scramble the whole thing together in one gigantic mess.
ReplyDeleteMarjoram is a beautiful herb, it is lovely with eggs. I too love an omelette for a bachelorette dinner - that, or a salad - something boys don't tend to like :P
ReplyDeleteMarjoram is one of my favorite herbs. I always add dried marjoram to my pizza sauce. It has a fantastic, almost floral aroma. Delicious stuff. and your omelette looks gorgeous! I will bet that was tasty.
ReplyDeleteI love quick and easy meals when you are cooking for one! Looks gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIt looks delicious, specially with those mushrooms, they look so fresh and good.
