I’m here! I’m back! As is my newly repaired computer having survived an annoying virus. Thankfully my computer guy was able to save all my photos and files, and return a clean computer to me by the end of the weekend.
Oh happy days!
And happy tummy!
Let me explain…
When we were at the Sydney Good Food and Wine show recently, we walked past the Slim Pasta stand, and were intrigued.
Slim Pasta – a low carb, high fibre pasta made with a vegetable - konjac.
We bought the spaghetti, which contains oatmeal flour (ie so is wheat free but not gluten free) – although I understand that they have an angel hair version that is gluten free if you were wanting that option.
I used a packet of this pasta to throw together a quick dinner when our pantry and fridge supplies were running low over the weekend. So it certainly ended up being a hodge podge pasta.
But a delicious one nonetheless.
I was a little concerned that the packet might not yield enough for our two hearty appetites, but I served it alongside some steamed broccoli and it ended up being just about right.
Spaghetti with prawns, chilli, sausage and tomato.
Doused in parmesan cheese.
And gobbled with gusto.
I actually quite liked the texture of the pasta, which held together well. The nutrition stats are also likely to see me use this pasta more, in place of its carb-filled counterparts, when I am looking for a lighter pasta meal.
Particularly when a sneaky glass of red wine accompanies the meal…
What about you? Are you a computer wizard? Or do you leave it to the professionals, like me?

My dad is a software engineer, so he helps me keep my computer alive. Ahhh, I've had this fake pasta in the pantry for probably six months, but I've been too scared to use it!
ReplyDeleteI always rely on my dad or Jesse to fix my computer or tell me how to fix it - I'm hopeless!
ReplyDeleteI've seen this pasta in stores, however, I heard a lot about how undigestible the konjac is and with my digestive woes that's a huge no no! Plus it has soy which my stomach can't tolerate. I think I much prefer real pasta, especially as I need all those calories!
If you haven't done so already, go buy an external hard drive and copy all your photos and files to it. Then come up with a plan to do it regularly. I'm utterly paranoid about my photos, and have a couple of "offsite backups" - disks I keep at work, then bring home every couple of weeks to back everything up to. I also burn stuff to DVD so there's an optical copy as well. Did I mention I'm paranoid about my photos? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Kazza! I backed up all my photos as soon as I got my computer back! I am super paranoid now too!
DeleteGlad the computer is back up and running - I have an external hard drive but don't back it up enough - which I should considering some of the bad luck I have had with computers!!! And I am no expert at fixing them like you
ReplyDeleteDid the noodles taste gluggy - I'm a bit leery of them :) but haven't tried them either...
ReplyDeleteNot at all! They were quite firm.
DeleteI'm glad your computer is back again. I hate those sorts of "eek" moments with hard drives!
ReplyDeleteI am not a huge fan of this pasta - it seemed to expand in my stomach in quite an uncomfortable, choking way!! - but I can see that it would be helpful if you need to avoid wheat. I have only tried it the once so maybe I'll give it another go eventually :P
Hmm I didnt have that experience at all. They sat just fine in my tummy...
DeleteI quite liked the Angel Hair :)
ReplyDeleteLooks yummy. I've had computer problems this week as well - my main computer is still out of action. Luckily I'm married to a computer nerd :-). Feel bad for him though when he has spend hours fixing my computer - normally he just gets one of his employees to do that type of thing :-).
ReplyDelete:( Hope it gets fixed soon!
