Ever so slowly (the operative word being slowly) we are turning our new house into a home. We deliberately held off going too crazy when we moved in, preferring instead to live in the house a while before deciding how to decorate the walls etc.
But I feel that time has now arrived.
You might recall that we jazzed up a previously blank wall with some handy Ikea picture ledges, to create a changeable art wall.
Then, at long last, my birthday present arrived!
Quite some time ago I made some easy canvas wall art to hang in our living room. But they just didn’t feel right. Too dull perhaps?
Instead, I wanted a colourful piece of artwork to hang in the space, mainly to introduce some extra colour to an otherwise fairly neutral room.
So my birthday present soon took the room from this….
To this!
So bright and colourful – and much much better!
Now all we need are some orange / red cushions for the couch, and I think this space will be complete.
Well for now at least
What about you? Do you have a favourite decorating colour?

Slow and steady is good here, Lisa. When my (much) older brother and his wife got their first home, they sat on wooden fruit boxes for a long time before getting furniture! You have a lifetime to acquire beautiful things for your home, many of which will then hold significant memories for you. Love the new art work ; )
ReplyDeleteI think it's good that you're taking your time. I can never picture what something will look like and if I rush, it can look strange and reflect whatever phase I'm going through at the time! :P
ReplyDeleteLooks so nice what a nice birthday present :) I love your picture ledges. I'm looking for something on our bedroom wall it's so boring. I have so much trouble picturing what would be perfect so it has just ended up bare since we moved in last year.

great picture - I love the splash of colour - will you find another home for your other wall hangings! We have the opposite problem in our place - we have lots of pics but not enough space :-)
ReplyDeleteIts OK to wait until you get just the right piece or decorator item. We had concrete floors in half the house for the first few years as we wanted wood floors but couldn't afford them straight away. Your picture certainly adds a lovely splash of colour to your room.
ReplyDeleteI have to pick colours for my new kitchen, and it its such hard work! I want to make sure they're just right!
I am wondering, where did you get this beautiful art? I am looking for something similar to give our bland room a punch of color, but have had difficulty finding the right thing - and I know next to nothing about art! I would appreciate any info you could share :)
