Going through my photo archives, I cam across a collection of photos that I knew I was unlikely to ever publish.
Some were meals that looked ok, but tasted terrible.
While others failed on both accounts – ugly and bland.
But rather than hit delete, I figured ‘why not’? Why not share some of the flops of late – for it can’t always be fantastic when it comes to the kitchen can it?
This, I *think*, was some sort of falafel salad. Looks (and from memory, tasted) rather unappetising don’t you think?
Now this – oh this…My attempt at a slow cooked beef fillet that was just plain terrible. Tough, chewy – and no amount of gravy could fix it!
Ahhhh caramel slice. My quest for the perfect caramel slice continues – and this attempt was certainly not it. Perhaps slightly better than my other attempt – but a flop nonetheless.
Now I bet you are asking why something so pretty could be included in my flop list? Well despite all appearances, this amaretto tart was far from impressive – and tasted like pure sugar and almonds. Not palatable at all.
And finally, I am including this purely for its failure from a visual sense. For the slow cooked beef massamun was actually rather tasty, but if anyone can style a brown curry to look pretty – and not like a big pile of dog food - well I’d love to know how!
What about you? Any kitchen flops lately?
