I love trying new recipes and cooking with new foods. I only have to wander through the local greengrocer to be amazed by this world of interesting products and produce – that leave me wondering not only what they are, but also how to cook them!
Sadly, however, the pressure of a full time job and training often has me feeling rather uninspired when it comes to meals. More and more often I am falling back on the ‘ol reliable dishes to ensure that at least something nutritious reaches the dinner table at a reasonable hour.
So, in both the spirit of adventure, and in an attempt to overcome repetition, let me introduce you to…
… the Mystery Box!
What is it?
The Mystery Box is all about encouraging creativity and variety in the kitchen. From alfalfa to zucchini, the Mystery Box contains unique and varied ingredients that will have you creating exciting home-cooked meals in no time.
While you may have cooked with some ingredients, others you may never heard of (let alone cooked with?!). But don’t be alarmed! Use the opportunity to research the ingredient. Find out how to cook with it, and what flavours work best.
You will have your own collection of new and exciting meals in no time.
How it works?
Follow this link to the index of Mystery Box ingredients. Cut each ingredient out onto an individual card, and place into a box or container.
Voila - you now have your own “Mystery Box”!
When you need a little inspiration at meal time, reach in, take out a card, do your research, then cook away!
The aim is for the chosen ingredient to be a star feature of the meal, but it can be used in any way. The possibilities are endless!
So, are you are ready to join the Mystery Box movement? If so, click on the link below to print off your own ingredient list…
